On the morning of November 29, the China-Korea (Yancheng) Industrial Park Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference was held in Yancheng. Zhang Mingkang, Deputy Party Secretary and Mayor of Yancheng, Kim Young-joon, Consul General of South Korea in Shanghai, Wang Liping, Director of the Asia Division at the Ministry of Commerce, Kim Jong-cheol, Director of the Trade and Cooperation Bureau at South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy, and distinguished guests from government agencies, leading enterprises, and industry associations from both China and South Korea gathered once again by the Yellow Sea to explore new opportunities for open cooperation and shape a brighter future together.
Zhang Mingkang welcomed the attendees on behalf of the municipal government, expressing gratitude to all those who have supported Yancheng’s development. He noted that Yancheng has long been an "important window" for China-South Korea cooperation. Over the past seven years, since the approval of the China-Korea (Yancheng) Industrial Park, the two countries have cultivated a model of cooperation combining official and civilian exchanges with both economic and cultural partnerships. He pledged to fully implement the important agreements reached by the leaders of both nations, strengthen the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, consolidate cooperation outcomes, optimize the business environment, promote industrial collaboration, and expand cultural exchanges. He invited attendees to experience firsthand the dynamic development of Yancheng and explore the city’s unique ecological charm and vitality.
Kim Young-joon congratulated the successful event and noted that this year marks the 32nd anniversary of diplomatic relations between South Korea and China. He highlighted the exemplary partnership between Yancheng and South Korea, particularly noting that trade between the two rose by 31.8% last year. Additionally, passenger and cargo flights, as well as port routes, have resumed. He emphasized that Yancheng’s rich ecological resources, excellent transportation infrastructure, fast-growing industrial economy, and business-friendly environment offer favorable conditions for South Korean enterprises. Kim expressed hope that the event would help further advance cooperation and growth between the two countries.
Kim Jong-cheol affirmed the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy’s commitment to expanding economic and trade exchanges between South Korea and Yancheng, particularly in new energy and modern services, and to fostering deeper dialogues for mutual benefits. Si Yong, Director General of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Commerce, addressed the event via video, pledging support for Yancheng’s efforts to leverage its strengths and deepen cooperation with South Korea.
During the meeting, speakers included Roh Kyung-kyun, President of the Korea New & Renewable Energy Corporation, Hwang Jae-won, General Representative of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency in China, and representatives from China and South Korean enterprises. The event also introduced Yancheng’s investment environment, the China-Korea (Yancheng) Industrial Park, and the developments at the New & Renewable Energy Park, Zero Carbon Industry Park, and other major projects.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Yancheng Economic and Technological Development Zone Administrative Committee signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Korea New & Renewable Energy Corporation, and several major projects were successfully signed.
