The 2024 Yancheng-Korea Sister Cities Cooperation and Exchange Conference was held on November 29th, 2024. Zhang Mingkang, Deputy Party Secretary and Mayor of Yancheng, Kim Young-joon, Consul General of South Korea in Shanghai, and Jin Shangjun, Deputy Director-General of the Jiangsu Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, attended the event and delivered speeches.

Zhang Mingkang expressed gratitude to all those who have supported Yancheng’s development. He said that on the new journey of the new era, Yancheng will maintain close exchange, deepen cooperation, and mutual learning with South Korea, to accelerate comprehensive cooperation in industrial innovation, green energy, and transportation connectivity, and to promote personnel exchange in various forms such as cultural tourism, sports events, and medical healthcare, which will grow a even more lush and prosperous friendship tree.

Kim Young-joon expressed his congratulations to the event. He said that the cooperation between South Korea and Yancheng has been praised as a representative case of intergovernmental cooperation between China and South Korea, and he looked forward to both sides taking this event as an opportunity to strengthen interaction and exchange in multiple fields such as economy, culture, tourism, and personnel exchanges, and jointly creating a new future.

At the conference, a promotional video on the friendship between Yancheng and its Korean friendship cities and the “voices from the sister city” were played.The YanchengMunicipal Development and Reform Commission, the Yancheng Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, and Television, and the Namwon City, Jecheon City, HwaseongCity, and Ulsan Namgu of South Korea respectively made presentations.The Green and Low-carbon Innovative Development Cooperation Initiative among Yancheng and Korean Friendship Cities was released. And a signing ceremony was held for the establishment of a sister city relationship between Yancheng and the Gyeyang-gu of Incheon Metropolitan City, South Korea.
